Tribal gambling revenue soar in Arizona
Arizona’s Department of Gaming announced an increase of $27 million in tribal gambling revenue for the quarter that ended on June 30.
That figure marks a surge of 4.4 per cent over the same quarter in the 2017 fiscal year. This is the sixth straight quarter in which the tribal gaming revenue has increased.
Daniel Bergin, the director of Department of Gaming, said that more than $13 million of this revenue will go to Arizona’s Instructional Improvement Fund for education with almost $7 million going to support trauma and emergency services.
Other funding is used for the department’s operating costs, state tourism and wildlife conservation.
Tribes in Arizona with Class III casinos contribute 1 per cent to 8 per cent of gross gambling revenue to the state, cities, towns and counties.
