Gambling in the USA
Infographic: Legalized Sports Gambling in the US

Until recently, sports betting used to be illegal in the US with the exception of a few states: Nevada, Montana, Oregon, and Delaware. However, the situation drastically changed when the Supreme Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) in May of this year. Now each state may determine whether they will legalize betting on sports or not. The team behind NJgames.org put together an infographic covering these key events, from the introduction of PASPA to its abolition, and clearly outlined all the impacts that this decision will have on the US economy.
In seven states, you can already wager on sports events, and it probably won’t be long before other states follow suit. This will inevitably bring a number of economic changes. In the infographic, you can read how many people are expected to find jobs in sports betting, both directly and indirectly, as well as how this industry will affect the US GDP. It even includes tax rate estimates on gaming revenue.
Another area that this change in legislation has affected is the monetization of real-time sports data, as betting operators need accurate and reliable data. The leaders in this field, Sportradar and Stats, have already signed a number of deals worth millions of dollars. The infographic below will also inform you about future trends, including blockchain technology and sports betting bots. As you will see, the Supreme Court decision appears to be a win-win for everyone, except of course for some less fortunate gamblers.
