Guernsey to study the impact of gambling

The States of Guernsey will conduct a health impact assessment of gambling in the island.
The Committee for Health and Social Care, the Committee for Home Affairs and the States Trading Supervisory Board are conducting the study.
The study’s objective is to review the gambling participation and behaviours, focusing on problem gambling in particular, when betting becomes addictive and disrupts people’s lives.
The research will be used to develop the services available to people with gambling addictions and to change laws if necessary.
The review is currently being developed and a funding application will soon be made to the Policy and Resources Committee.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
