Casino du Liban to Launch Online Gambling and Sports Betting

Casino du Liban, the only legal gambling centre in Lebanon, is planning to launch online gambling and sports betting in six months.
It remains to be seen if Casino du Liban’s online gambling site will launch as promised and who will manage its online operations. The casino’s land-based gaming operations are managed by London Clubs International, a division of Caesars Entertainment, which has plenty of online gambling experience.
Roland Khoury, the Chairman of Casino du Liban, said that once Casino du Liban’s site is up and running, the Lebanese government would “block the rest of the online gambling sites” to protect its casino monopoly from international online interlopers.
Casino du Liban is currently paying 50% tax on its slot machine revenue, with an annual tax bill of around $45m. The estimated 200 “amusement centres” offering electronic gaming to Lebanese adults pay only around $5m in total. If these shops were closed, slots activity at Casino du Liban would soar and boost the government’s tax revenue. Khoury suggested the government to cut the Casino du Liban’s slots tax by 10 points to 40%, if the shops were not closed.
