Bet365 Family Tops UK Taxpayers in 2020

Denise, John and Peter Coates, the owners of online bookmaker Bet365, have been declared the UK’s biggest taxpayers for the second year in a row.
The trio paid £573 million in tax last year. Over £200 million of that sum came from corporation and payroll taxes, while the rest originated from salary and dividend taxes, and betting duty, which the list included in their calculations for the first time.
Denise Coates, whose family has an estimated net worth of £7.2 billion and is the gambling firm’s joint chief executive, has received controversy in recent years for her gigantic salaries, including a £323 million payday in 2019.
