Pohang Steelers Partners with Chiliz
Pohang Steelers, a South Korean professional football club based in Pohang, has entered into a partnership with Chiliz $CHZ, the leading global blockchain provider for sports and entertainment.
The partnership will see the club join the roster of major sporting organisations on Chiliz fan engagement platform Socios.
Socios is built on the Chiliz blockchain infrastructure and uses $CHZ as its on-platform currency. Chiliz has been listed on many major exchanges, including the Korean platform Upbit.
The new partnership will see the club and Chiliz work together to establish common blockchain initiatives aimed at enhancing fan engagement. Initially, fans will be able to interact with the club and vote in fan polls using Socios.com’s native $SSU Token.
In-seok Choi, CEO of Pohang Steelers, said: “We are delighted to be partnered with Socios, providing new platforms for football fans along with leading European football clubs such as Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and Manchester City. We look forward to reaching football fans with various contents using blockchain technology.”
Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO and founder of Chiliz and Socios, said: “This is a landmark announcement for us and we’re delighted that this prominent club has chosen to embrace Socios.
“Pohang Steelers are our first Korean partner, but there will be many more to come. We look forward to establishing common blockchain and fan engagement initiatives with the Steelers, announcing more partnerships in Korea and raising the profile of Socios and Chiliz throughout the country.”
