Are skill-based casino games a reliable way to supplement income?
There is no doubt that the global iGaming industry is in a great place right now and has seen rapid expansion all over the world in the last few years, especially in the UK. While the many excellent casino platforms online are a big reason behind this, so too are the game companies involved in the industry.
Of course, the promotions offered by iGaming platforms also helps attract players and the best casino bonuses UK sites offer are truly impressive. Whether it is the Welcome Package new players get or reloads for existing customers, the bonuses given out are a big factor in the rise of internet casino sites.
Although everyone in countries like the UK plays casino games for fun, some will also play to make a little extra cash to supplement their main income. If you choose to do this, the game(s) you decide to try are important. It is generally accepted that skill-based games are worth focusing on, as you have more control of whether you win or lose your bet.
Due to this level of control, it is true to say that skill-based casino titles can be a good way to win extra money each month. If you put in enough practise and play regularly, it is also true to say that they can be a reliable way to generate additional funds as well.
Skill-based gambling games that pay real money
Britain’s obsession with video games is well-known but skill-based gambling games are also popular around the land. But which are some of the most popular that pay real money? Although there are lots of different skill-based games to play in the UK for real cash, the below remain some of the best-loved:
- Blackjack
- Skill-based slots
- Poker
- Craps
- Live Games
You will easily find all of the above at any decent iGaming platform and they can all potentially offer a reliable way to supplement your income.
Which is the best casino game to win money?
It is widely accepted that blackjack is the best because it has the lowest house edge usually (around 0.5% at most internet casinos). This basically means the casino has less of an advantage over players and you have a bigger chance of winning money. If you also use blackjack crib cards you can find for free online to help, then you can tip the odds further in your favour.
Craps can also offer a low house edge on certain bets and this makes it another game worth focusing on. If you stick to ‘Don’t come/Don’t pass’ bets for example, the house edge is just 1.4% at most internet casinos. Although you might not see this dice-game as overly skilled, the decision making involved when betting enables it to qualify.
Skill-based slots also deserve a mention in terms of being good games to potentially win money from. These slots are often more interactive than standard ones and enable players to make in-game decisions which then affect the outcome of the game. If you stick to ones that offer high RTP figures, the odds are further tipped in your favour.
Poker does not have a house edge as such because you play against other players, rather than the casino. If you are very good at it though, it can be a decent choice to make some extra cash regularly with.
Online gambling sites in the UK
There is no doubt that the UK is one of the biggest markets in the online casino industry. Much of this comes down to the superb features top-class iGaming platforms in the UK offer to players. From awesome bonuses to outstanding site design, unrivalled customer support, high-end security and game from the best developers around, UK internet casinos are some of the most innovative. When you also think of how cryptocurrency could impact the gaming sector and how internet casinos might use other future advances to offer more, it gets very exciting.
Of course, to access all these benefits you need to find the best place to play at. A good way to make this simpler and faster is using online casino review sites. These handy sites bring together the best UK casinos to consider and run the rule over them for you.
Skill-based casino games can make you money
The simple fact is that skill-based casino games can be a reliable way to make extra cash. This of course does not mean they are guaranteed to or that you will make millions! If you get good enough at the game(s) you play though and play regularly, you can make enough each month to give your main income a nice boost.

Guilhoto to lead GIANTX in the LEC
The Portuguese head coach signs a two-year deal to guide GIANTX in Europe’s top esports league and aim for the Worlds. Guilhoto embarks on his third tenure with the organization and returns to the LEC after reaching two finals.
Nico Perez and Emi complete the coaching staff
André Guilhoto will be the head coach of GIANTX in the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC), Europe’s premier esports league. Guilhoto returns to the organization to replace Christophe ‘Kaas’ van Oudheusden and lead its League of Legends international project. His goal is to qualify the team for the Worlds. He has signed a two-year contract for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Guilhoto (Portugal, 1994) returns to both GIANTX and the LEC. Between 2018 and 2020, he coached several teams in the European league, including reaching two finals with Schalke 04 and Origen. He entered the European scene after winning the Spanish league with GIANTX, then known as Giants Gaming.
After his time in the LEC, he coached in North America with Immortals and Team Liquid. In 2023, he returned to Málaga to work with Giants, which later merged with British club Excel to form GIANTX. In 2024, he coached in the Superliga with CASE Esports and Team Heretics, where he won the Spanish championship.
Guilhoto is one of the most experienced head coaches in the scene and a well-known figure within the Spanish-speaking League of Legends community. GIANTX announced his return with a video confirming his new role as head coach.
GIANTX looks to Guilhoto to improve its results in the LEC. The team finished eighth in the winter and spring splits and reached the summer season finals, but missed out on qualifying for the Worlds. The organization aims to achieve this goal with Guilhoto leading the coaching staff.
Joining Guilhoto in Berlin, the home of the LEC, are assistant coach Nico Perez (France, 1998) and strategic coach Emanuel Ursachi ‘Emi’ (Romania, 1995). Nico spent the last year with GIANTX, first as head coach in the Superliga and then as assistant coach in the LEC. Emi, now in his second tenure with the company, will serve as the strategic coach.
The LEC season begins on January 18, 2025. GIANTX will announce the roster under Guilhoto’s leadership in the coming days.
