Are we in a golden age of casino games?
There can be no denying that online casino games have progressed in leaps and bounds since they first arrived on your internet-connected devices, especially over the past 25 or so years.
In the early 90’s, the internet looked very different to todays, streamlined, fast paced world of constant engagement. People were amazed at the emergence of colour screens for our computers that were at the same time gaining speed at which they processed data. Mobile phones were slowly gaining computing power of their own, heading as they were to being able to do more than just play “snakes” or “bricks” as the only form of entertainment they offered.
We now see that mobile phones can process the vast amounts of data that computers can, as well as provide stunning graphics, cinematic-like animations, and constant, interruption-free streaming as the norm. Meanwhile, computers have become better and even faster, seeing the most complicated of processes taking mere seconds to complete.
All this vast computing power has also been harnessed by the gambling industry whose clever developers are now able to provide customers with an incredible, high-tech, and immersive gaming experience that we not only take for-granted but was unthought of as being possible a mere quarter of a century ago. And not having to visit a bricks and mortar casino also adds popularity to the gambling experience.
One of the very popular on-line gambling choices, the humble slot machine, has truly entered its golden age. Gone is the one-arm bandit method of pulling an online lever or pressing an online button where customers hoped for a simple match though a one-line win. Now there are features and additions that offer an infinite combination of pay-out options, free spins, and bonus opportunities, some outside the main spin game that customers could only previously dream about, including the modern customer favourite, the progressive jackpot. And the progressive jackpot is not limited to just slots either! There are now thousands of casino games to choose from online.
The power of modern computing has also opened the golden age of online tournaments, live dealer, and multiplayer games, all with the added availability of ‘chatting’ with fellow players. Live dealer games can now not only be streamed directly from casinos but can include all manner of immersive takes on traditional table-bet placing to make the experience even more enjoyable. The player can feel like they are there.
Online multiplayer games and tournaments add social interaction to the gambling experience, sharing the elation of your win or the commiseration of being beaten into second place. Some of the more creative casinos offer a collection of various games to a collective ‘race’, where the winner takes all, adding competitiveness and excitement into the mix.
As mobile phones have become more powerful, the developers have been able to harness fast internet combined with superb mobile graphics to allow previously PC-only based games to function on mobile devices. And thanks to modern technology, it is possible to change from one device to another without the requirement for an individual profile for each device used.
You also have the added security of being able to utilise secure third part monetary aps rather than connecting directly to your bank.
However, a word of caution; at this stage, it is advisable not to dabble just yet in blockchain or cryptocurrency options for payment until these methods of finance are fully regulated.
