The Global Esports Tour Jets to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
The Global Esports Tour heads to Riyadh after the 2022 Season kick-off event concluded in Dubai last month. The professional esports tournament by the Global Esports Federation will be hosted by the Saudi Esports Federation on July 25-27, 2022.
The tournament will be staged at the state-of-the-art, purpose-built Boulevard Riyadh City, during the eight-week Gamers8 festival, an international gaming and esports event in the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
The GET, which comprises a series of competitions, is staged across key global cities throughout the year. Each tournament stage will showcase a unique esports title. The GET Riyadh will feature the legendary esports title – Street Fighter V: Champion Edition.
“As a feature at our inaugural season last year, Riyadh hosted an epic stage of Global Esports Tour during the 2021 Riyadh Seasons. Thousands of fans joined industry leaders and filled the arena. We are thrilled to be heading to Riyadh for this exciting live event this year as part of the celebration of esports and gaming culture at the Gamers8 festival. We can’t wait to join our community in another landmark tournament this year,” Paul J. Foster, CEO of the GEF, said.
“Riyadh has become one of the world’s major esports hubs in recent years. With an estimated 23.5 million gamers across the country, the Global Esports Tour gives a boost to our exciting gaming and esports calendar. We are proud to host GET Riyadh this July and look forward to another unforgettable tournament in our nation’s capital,” HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, President of the Saudi Esports Federation and Vice President of the Global Esports Federation, said.
The GET is set to continue its world tour following Riyadh to include key global destinations including Brazil in South America, China and Singapore in Asia, and Los Angeles where the GET first kicked off in 2021.
