Opera GX launches new ‘RGX Mode’, a free video and image sharpening technology that enhances the browsing experience

n keeping with several groundbreaking graphic advancements made by leading GPU manufacturers, Opera GX, the browser for gamers, is introducing a technology that could potentially rival that of real-time ray tracing, codenamed RGX.
Unlike GPU manufacturers, Opera GX is offering RGX at a market-first price point — free of charge — and consumes little to no additional resources, which means it doesn’t require any upgrade in setup.
Technically speaking, RGX is a content enhancing technology that applies to video and image elements on webpages. Traditionally, filters of this caliber require GPU acceleration, whereas in Opera GX, the technology is built right into the browser. Non-technically speaking, your new video and image quality will knock your socks down.
“Gamers familiar with ray tracing technology or lucky enough to own a RTX series graphics card will immediately see the value of RGX,” said Maciej Kocemba, Product Director at Opera GX. “RGX Mode shows just how far this type of technology has come.”
Anyone browsing the web with RGX enabled will immediately make their favorite content—which, let’s be honest, is already *pretty* good—even better.
“That’s the beauty of RGX,” concludes Kocemba. “You don’t need a gigabit connection or YouTube Premium to enjoy it – you can just view things in HD right in your browser. It’s so seamlessly integrated you might not even notice it’s there, but your eyes certainly will.
