Chinese police nab 94 suspects for online gambling
Police have arrested 94 persons in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality who were allegedly involved in online gambling case.
Chinese news agency (Xinhua) reported that, according to local police, the case involved 350 million yuan (55 million U.S. dollars)and 13 online gambling websites, having 100,000 registered users overall. The websites were shut down.
The operation reportedly began in February when police chanced upon two websites – Feng and Yu – run by an Internet technology company owned by two suspects. Further investigation revealed that the company had been offering rental servers and technology support for online gambling websites.
The entire gang was arrested on April 8. The case is under further investigation.
Chongqing police have seized 453 suspects involved in online gambling since February.
