Playfulbet scores at the eGaming Awards
Playfulbet, the free to play social betting sports platform, won ‘Mejor Empresa de Social Gaming’ (Best Social Gaming Company) at the 2019 eGaming Awards ceremony held in Madrid on the 19th June. Playfulbet’s CEO Christian Khoury was at the event to collect the award which is an iconic golden duck.
Khoury commented, “It is wonderful to be recognised in this way by our industry peers. The Playfulbet team has worked hard this year to increase our users by 600,000, meaning we now have 8.6 million registered users. We have achieved this by innovative social marketing techniques, developing key industry partnerships, doubling our team and implementing several platform improvements to make Playfulbet the best social gaming experience on the market.”
Founded by former professional poker player Pol Ruiz in 2012, Playfulbet players are given free virtual coins to use to bet on the outcome of a range of sports match verticals: football, basketball, tennis, e-sports, baseball and rugby. Players receive coins each time they win a bet, when players have accumulated a sufficient number of coins, these can be cashed out for prizes. Prizes include a range of electronic devices including gaming consoles, smartTVs, smartphones, video games, etc.
Playfulbet was purchased by EXOGROUP 12 months ago, the group’s CEO and Founder Benjamin Fonzé added, “When Playfulbet became part of EXOGROUP I saw huge potential for the unique product offering. We have made a significant investment in Playfulbet in order to provide the company with the resources and technology that it needs to continue to grow and expand its market share. The eGaming Award shows that Playfulbet is highly respected within the industry and that EXOGROUP was right to see the potential of Playfulbet’s role in the social gaming ecosystem.”
The eGaming Awards are the highest recognition of the online gaming industry in Spain. Created back in 2014, the awards reward and give a higher visibility to the people and companies that work to make the gaming sector continue to improve and grow.
