GameFly’s Members-only Drops Put Consoles into Hands of Gaming Fans, Not Bots

When Gamers desperately searched for the new PS5 or Xbox on major retail sites, they were often met with serious disappointment. Bots swept in and snapped up the limited offerings in seconds. These “inventory grabbers” shut out fans who just wanted a new console.
GameFly, the go-to subscription service for console video games, gave its members a real alternative. It offered its members special bundles that included consoles, controllers and games, plus a one-year subscription to GameFly at discounted prices. These PS5 and Xbox drops sold out in under an hour as word spread among excited members; one recent drop created such a buzz, GameFly became a trending US topic on Twitter.
“We’re looking out for our members, who love games as much as we do. We want to reward our members by giving them access to the next-gen consoles. We’re planning to continue this, as we get more consoles from manufacturers,” Joe Slepski, marketing director at Gamefly, said.
“GameFly is committed to the gamers who want to access the things that make them happy. These console drops are proof of our commitment to our members,” Tim Hinsley, President of GameFly, said.
