Leong Kai Wei Becomes Winner of Malaysia Infinity Nationals 2022

Esports Players League (ESPL) and Yield Guild Games Southeast Asia (YGG SEA) announced Leong Kai Wei as the winner of the Malaysia Infinity Nationals 2022, who won the grand prize of 70 AXS, RM2500 in cash as well as ShopeeFood vouchers worth RM250.
The Malaysia Infinity Nationals 2022 featured close to 100 Axie players from all over Malaysia battling it out in an intense preliminary round of matches, which took place on 3 June 2022. The top eight players advanced to the grand finals on 5 June 2022 where participants battled for a slice of the 195 AXS prize pool and cash prizes. The tournament was streamed live on ESPL tournament platforms and on Shopee Live.
“I felt great after winning a tournament with such a big prize pool and I think the format and organisation are all fine for this tournament. I have faced tough matchups especially against Gilgamesh and Biggabbie where one misplay could have cost me the game but I was able to keep a calm mind and managed to get the final victory,” Leong Kai Wei said.
“Malaysia Infinity Nationals 2022 has marked another incredible milestone in our competitive esports scene. This tournament represents our efforts to continue developing more tournaments in the future to support the growing local blockchain gaming and play-to-earn (P2E) communities. ESPL aims to further establish a fair and wholesome esports platform that empowers users with the opportunity to fully experience this new era of gaming,” Stephanie Kuan, Chief Operating Officer of ESPL, said.
“It is interesting to take advantage of the growing popularity of NFT games such as Axie Infinity as this tournament has showcased variety, depth and interest of gamers that expands beyond the conventional. With ESPL, YGG SEA aims to be at the forefront of the local P2E community and provide them with the correct tools to kickstart and succeed in their journey in cryptocurrency. We continue to believe in the possibilities and potential of P2E blockchain games plus its role in benefitting the esports ecosystem and virtual economy. Hence, YGG SEA intends to develop more competitions in esports and blockchain games to hone more skillful players from the community, and at the same time hoping to bring millions of players into the metaverse,” Ryan Kan, Marketing Manager for YGG SEA Malaysia, said.
