Betway Concludes ‘smooth’ Launch into Ontario’s iGaming market

Super Group-owned Betway has confirmed its “smooth” transition to the Ontario online sports betting market. Super Group CEO, Neal Menashe, described Canada as its “largest sportsbook market”, with the arrival of Betway into the Ontario province something of a watershed moment for the group.
When Ontario had a “grey” market for sports betting, the province welcomed Betway and was one of the leading operators before transitioning to its fully regulated marketplace. Menashe revealed that the opening week of figures since Betway’s launch in Ontario were “in line with expectations”.
At the present time, Betway’s sportsbook is the only element of its platform that is live in Ontario. Its online sportsbook covers a multitude of sports leagues and events, including live betting for in-play bettors. Its Betway Live Video service also provides a useful platform for sports bettors, with the ability to catch live sporting events in real time.
There is a likelihood that its casino games will be made available in the coming months, although it could be achieved through another subsidiary of its parent company, which is headquartered on the Channel Island of Guernsey.
The Spin arm of Super Group is due to launch in Ontario imminently and Menashe said the group has “learned a lot” from Betway’s recent arrival that it “can implement” to improve its iGaming experience for Canadians. Live dealer games could be firmly on the agenda given Betway’s new partnership with Playtech for a “multi-year” period.
Betway making moves to embark on the US market too
In February, Betway and Super Group announced ambitious plans to launch its sportsbook operations online in the fast-growing US market. A ground-breaking licensing arrangement with DGC will see Betway ‘go live’ in as many as ten US states simultaneously.

Ahead of Betway’s impending launch stateside, enhancing its North American presence, Menashe said that the overall group’s balance sheet “remains strong” and that it would continue to seek “selection acquisitions” to cement its reputation as a “niche player” in a host of iGaming markets spanning Europe, North America and Asia. It recently entered the Bulgarian market, which is by no means one of the biggest revenue drivers in the European iGaming landscape. However, it has been part of Europe’s number-one iGaming market, the UK and Ireland, where it has sponsored some 4,000 races across the horseracing scene.
Marketing promotions unveiled to celebrate the new football season in African market
Betway has also become one of the most trusted and reputable online sports betting operators in the fledgling African market. In Ghana, where Betway has been live for some time, it has recently unveiled a string of sportsbook promotions aimed at promoting its football betting products.
The site has introduced a promotion called “Beat the Odds”. Launched in early August to coincide with the new English Premier League (EPL) campaign, Beat the Odds will run for 60 days, giving customers a chance to land a share of prizes worth up to 3 million Ghanaian cedi.
To be eligible for the promotion, Ghanaian bettors must place qualifying wagers via the Beat the Odds page on the Betway platform. Bettors will earn or lose points on the Beat the Odds leaderboard, depending on the success or failure of their bets. The lucky bettor that finishes top of the Beat the Odds leaderboard will scoop an immediate 250,000 Ghanaian cedi in cash.
In addition, the operator has also unveiled the Big Betway Jackpot Winners league, whereby bettors can compete to land a jackpot of 16.5 million Ghanaian cedi by correctly predicting the results of no less than 17 football fixtures weekly. The 17-team jackpot costs 1.50 Ghanaian cedi to enter.
Low-roller, casual customers can also enter the 13-team and 8-team jackpot games which offer comparatively smaller jackpots. The 13-team jackpot costs 1 Ghanaiain cedi to enter for a potential 270,000 Ghanaian cedi payday, while the 8-team jackpot costs 0.50 Ghanaian cedi to try and win a payout of 5,000 Ghanaian cedi.
There’s also a Multi Bet bonus that’s focused largely on those who place multiple and acca bets. Acca bettors can get their potential winnings boosted up to a maximum of 500%. To qualify for this bonus, bettors must incorporate at least two legs at odds of 1.30 or better into their betslip.
All of which goes to underline Menashe’s comments that Super Group and Betway remains “in a unique position” when it comes to the “global online gaming universe”, with a “diverse footprint”.
