Sands Casino Resort, Bethlehem gets the go ahead from Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board

As the Pennsylvanian Gaming Control Board announced the fourth winner from the bidding process which intends to permit mini-casinos in the state, fortune favoured the owner of Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem, this week. By acquiring permission to operate a mini-casino on the other side of Pennsylvania potentially makes it the sixth casino in the state within a short drive from the Ohio border.
Las Vegas Sands Corp., the pre-eminent developer and operator of world-class Integrated Resorts that feature luxury hotels; best-in-class gaming; retail; dining and entertainment proposed a project with a bid of nearly US$9.9 million to build the casino within 15 miles of a location chosen in Hempfield Township in northwestern Pennsylvania’s Mercer County.
In a bid to gather further funds to invigorate the state’s economy, the government of Pennsylvania disclosed that they have started the auctions of casino licences. As reported by the official press, gaming and legal authorities are prepared to auction 10 mini-casinos licences.
Pennsylvania’s gambling expansion persist to develop and hundreds of towns have already shown their interest in hosting one of the ten mini-casinos. That is certainly the case for six municipalities in Franklin County, which – like many others – have not shied away from the chance to have their own: Chambersburg, Orrstown and the townships of Greene, Washington, St. Thomas and Lurgan.
