Breaking into the Baltics: APIgrator is certified in Lithuania

APIgrator, an innovative solution for the rapid integration of games into gambling platforms, is now certified on the Lithuanian market.

Lithuania only recently popped up on the iGaming industry’s radar, but thanks to its dynamic economy and the pro-gambling stance of its government, it has quickly attracted the attention of the gambling community. Online casino operators are eager to take advantage of the country’s growing gambling market. Slotegrator can help them make the most of the opportunity — the company’s APIgrator solution was just certified in the country.

The main event in the Lithuanian gambling market in recent years is the inclusion of online gambling regulation in the country’s Gambling Law. Since its legalization in 2016, iGaming revenue has at least tripled. And in July 2022, the Lithuanian Seimas approved additional amendments to the national Gambling Law and the Law on Lotteries and Gambling Taxes as part of ongoing reforms in the legislation of the Baltic States.

The key change brought about by the new legislation is the introduction of a new remote gambling license. Now, licensees no longer need to run any land-based gambling establishments.

In 2020, as in other countries, due to the mandatory lockdown, the income of land-based gambling establishments in Lithuania dropped sharply. The market sank 8.1% to €103.5 million. At the same time, iGaming’s vertical revenue increased by 47.1% to €59.6 million in gross gaming revenue. After almost doubling their GGR in a year to reach €29.4 million, online slots have become the main source of revenue.

The Lithuanian iGaming market is expanding, enabling operators and players to use new features, including the ability to integrate gaming content into gambling sites.

Ayvar Gabidullin, Business Development Manager at Slotegrator, commented on the product’s entry into the Lithuanian market: “We’re incredibly excited that APIgrator is certified in Lithuania. The market’s rapid growth has really captured our attention, and now we’re looking forward to working with clients to offer Lithuanian players the best possible iGaming experience.”

Operators that use the game content integration solution can already enter the Lithuanian market with their offer. APIgrator provides access to over 15,000 certified games from over 100 licensed industry developers — including slots, live dealer games, poker, virtual sports, and card and casual games — with a single API integration.

The solution allows you to save time, minimize costs, and eliminate administrative work. The operator does not need to provide technical support for individual integrations, conduct lengthy negotiations with suppliers, negotiate deal terms and enter into contracts with each provider separately. Comprehensive verification is also not required: the developer has a long-term trusting partnership with all game developers. By concluding one contract, the online casino operator gets access to the offers and promotional tools of any of the providers.

Olympic Casino Faces Another Fine in Lithuania

The Lithuania Gambling Supervisory Authority has issued another fine to UAB Olympic Casino Group Baltija following a further breach of advertising laws in the country.

The Authority fined Olympic Casino €25,000 after it found the operator featured information on its website about how customers could watch live sports events on Setanta Sports, but also encouraged users to bet on sports.

The text in question set out how customers would watch live coverage of events such as the Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A football leagues, as well as WTA tennis and Nascar motor-racing in the US.

While the promotion stated that coverage of events would be free, it also included text in relation to how customers could make deposits and withdrawals to and from their account on Olympic Casino. The advert included phrases such as “Be part of the game”.

Assessing the case, the Authority ruled the promotion was in breach of article 10, paragraph 19 of the Law on Gambling of the Republic of Lithuania, which relates to encouraging people to participate in gambling.

The Authority said the information about the possibility to watch events for free was not considered a gift, but information with which the operator sought to draw attention to its services, as well as to persuade and encourage people to participate in gambling.

However, the Authority also noted that the decision was not final and could be subject to an appeal by Olympic Casino.
