Deborah Roil Recognised At Global Regulatory Awards For The Success Of Responsible Gambling Week

Deborah Roil, of the Industry Group for Responsible Gambling (IGRG), won the Compliance Outstanding Achievement award at the third annual Global Regulatory Awards.

She was given the award for her role as project manager of the successful 2018 Responsible Gambling Week, which encompassed more than 12,000 gambling venues and online sites, involved 120,000 employees across Great Britain and created around 20 million impressions on social media. Leading football clubs and racecourses also took part, promoting safer gambling messages through their own channels and reaching new audiences.

Hosted by actor and comedian Stephen Mangan, the 3rd Global Regulatory awards took place at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. The outstanding achievement award is presented to an individual who has implemented industry-leading compliance initiatives in 2018-2019.

The awards are judged by an independent panel of experts and honour people working in a constantly changing regulatory landscape, who demonstrate a dedication to trustworthy gambling but rarely receive the plaudits they deserve.

Deborah Roil said: “I am honoured to have received this award, on behalf of everyone in the industry who worked so hard to make the 2018 campaign a success. The objective is to trigger a national conversation about responsible gambling and, with the support of the trade associations and operators, I have no doubt we will make the 2019 campaign even bigger and better”.

John Hagan, chairman of the IGRG, said: “During Responsible Gambling Week, operators want to reach not only their customers, but also their families and friends and the wider community. The IGRG is hoping to work with a broad range of groups, including charities, local authorities and information services, to ensure we connect with the widest possible audience. We want to find new ways of making this an open and inclusive conversation”.

Responsible Gambling Week 2019 will take place from 7th – 13th November 2019. The campaign brings together every sector of the industry through the IGRG, highlighting the work done throughout the year by operators to promote responsible gambling.

The European Casino Association’s annual Industry Forum is going to be held in the stunning waterfront Royal Casino JOA de Mandelieu in Cannes on 25 and 26 of June. The two-day event brings together members, partners and high-level experts in order to exchange views and discuss the latest trends in the casino industry.

The participants will be able to attend seminars covering innovation in the industry, the role of casinos in promoting destination tourism and the use of technology in a modern casino environment. The main topics on the agenda will be the issue of gambling advertising regulation and new developments and research in responsible gambling.

Rapid growth leads to office move for Altenar

Leading sportsbook platform provider Altenar on June 12 celebrated the opening of its new office in Malta with a party attended by a large number of the island’s gaming professionals.

The event featured a jazz band and was catered by restaurant Ali Baba.

Altenar’s relocation to the Pendergardens Business Centre from its previous office in Sliema became necessary due to the company’s outstanding growth over the past few years.

Its headcount has risen from just 26 employees in 2016 to more than 100 today across its three locations in Malta, Greece and Russia.

Altenar has also doubled its revenues each year from 2016 to 2018, and already 2019 has seen a number of exciting launches for the company. These include its first regulated Swedish client launch with Lucky Casino in May, as well as its entry into Romania with Red Sevens in January.

Domenico Mazzola, Commercial Director at Altenar, said: “We are very proud of our phenomenal success over the past few years and look forward to expanding further in future. Our new office in Malta gives us space to continue to grow and we will shortly start the hiring process to ensure we have the right people to help us do so.
