8Xbet signs football legend Teddy Sheringham as long-term brand ambassador
International sports bookmaker 8Xbet has scored a star signing, securing former Manchester United and England striker Teddy Sheringham as its new brand ambassador on a two-year deal.
Sheringham, who famously scored for Manchester United in their 1999 Champions League final victory, will help the sports betting and online casino operator grow its audience across Asian markets.
8Xbet was founded in 2018, with the online gambling company licensed and regulated by the Government of Curacao.
To launch the partnership, Sheringham took part in an ambassador signing ceremony with 8Xbet, which is the focus of an announcement video.
The agreement will see Sheringham appear in branding across 8Xbet’s web and social channels, while also providing regular content, where he’ll be sharing his thoughts and opinions on the latest football news and events.
The former Three Lions international earned 51 caps and scored 12 goals in a glittering 25-year playing career.
His most successful spell came under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. During four seasons, he won three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and the Intercontinental Cup, on top of the unforgettable Champions League victory. He was also voted Footballer of the Year in 2000/01 by PFA and FWA.
Sheringham – whose clubs also included Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Portsmouth – made history in 2006, becoming the Premier League’s oldest outfield player, with the record still standing today. He is the competition’s 12th all-time leading scorer with 146 goals.
8Xbet founder Ryan Li said: “8Xbet is extremely proud to be working with Teddy Sheringham, a truly iconic name in the modern era of English football and one of the Premier League’s most prolific strikers of all time. After such a high-profile playing career, Teddy has a fantastic reputation in Asia, and he will help grow 8Xbet as a brand in this region in the years to come.”
8Xbet brand ambassador Teddy Sheringham said: “I am honoured 8Xbet asked me to become a brand ambassador for Asia. It is a region that I have fond memories of visiting as a player – and many times since. I look forward to representing and working with the team at 8Xbet and engaging with their customers.”
The partnership between Sheringham and 8Xbet was brokered by Bear Faced Talent. The fast-growing, London-based talent management agency specialises in arranging commercial and media opportunities for former footballers, whilst also providing exclusive management for football legends including Micah Richards, Martin Keown and Sue Smith.
Bear Faced Talent founder Josh Landy said: “Teddy Sheringham is one of the finest strikers to have played in the Premier League and has huge appeal around the world. We are very excited to have made this deal happen and are sure it’s going to be an excellent partnership.”

India Investigates Google Over Policies for Real-money Games
India’s competition oversight body has ordered a probe into Google over its policies for real-money games on its platform
The investigation comes after a complaint by online gaming group WinZO that called Google’s policies restrictive.
WinZO contacted India’s Competition Commission (CCI) back in 2022, after it was excluded from Google’s Play Store, despite some of its competitors being allowed.
Google’s policy had allowed for real-money games which include rummy and fantasy sports but the company was rejected for carrying games in other categories that Google did not accept – including car racing, puzzles and Indian carrom.
“By granting preferential treatment to select app categories, Google effectively creates a two-tier market where some developers are accorded superior access and visibility while others are discriminated against and thus, left with a competitive disadvantage,” indicates a letter from the CCI.
