Lotteriinspektionen appoints Katarina Abrahamsson as match-fixing coordinator

Lotteriinspektionen, the gambling regulator of Sweden, has appointed Katarina Abrahamsson as its match-fixing coordinator.
She will take charge of Lotteriinspektionen’s anti-match-fixing council, which comprises representatives of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Swedish Police, and the Ministries of Finance and Social Affairs. Other new members, such as representatives of sports federations and betting trade bodies, could be added to the council.
Abrahamson is a lawyer by profession, who has worked on the development of regulations and guidelines for the re-regulation of Sweden’s gambling market, which will come into force from 1 January 2019. As per the new regulation, the Lotteriinspektionen will be renamed as the Spelinspektionen.
She had worked for Sweden’s Energimarknadsinspektionen, the body responsible for overseeing the supervision, regulation and licensing of energy companies in the country.
“Katarina has extensive experience from previously organising cooperation between authorities and organisations, but also from working both nationally and internationally on regulation and coordination issues,” Lotteriinspektionen operations manager Patrik Gustavsson explained. “This experience is very important for the work done by the Spelinspektionen, with regard to tackling match fixing.”
