Microgravity Ventures Private Limited, a facilitator of world-class gaming hubs and eSports tournaments in India announced its much anticipated Microgravity Gaming League- MGL Call of Duty: Mobile, Team Deathmatch tournament. The company is hosting this Freedom Month Special edition eSports tournament on 21st& 22nd August 2021, in partnership with Battlefy. The format will be selection-based where registered teams will compete against each other in a single eliminator format-based tournament in 5v5 multiplayer mode. Anyone above the age of 16 years will be eligible to participate in this tournament. This year, Microgravity has announced a prize pool of Rs. 1,00,000 and gaming vouchers.

The registration for the two-day eSport tournament will go live on 3rd August on the Microgravitysite to all mobile gaming enthusiasts. This year’s MGL Call of Duty: Mobile will be carried out in three phases. The qualifier rounds will be held on 21st August, while the quarter-finals, semi-finals, third place and grand finale will take place on 22ndAugust. A maximum of 256 teams can take part in this tournament and will be selected on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Talking about the tournament, Samrat Das Gupta, Head Marketing, Microgravity said, “Weare very excited to feature Activision Blizzard’s thrilling game- Call of Duty: Mobile in Microgravity Gaming League’s Freedom Month Special. This entire month will see us offer a slew of exciting offers and experiences both at our gaming hub as well as in the online gaming space. This tournament is exclusively designed to fuel the growth of and power on the mobile-first gaming ecosystem in the country. Our aim is to provide the online gaming community with support and motivation to pursue their passion, with an extra emphasis on the participation of women gamers. The pre-registration phase has already marked a great success among the gaming fraternity. We have also announced a prize pool of over Rs. 1 Lakh. We look forward to an exciting tournament and wish all the participants the best of luck.”

Microgravity has announced a prize pool of over Rs. 1,00, 000, which includes Rs. 35,000 for the winners, Rs. 25,000 for 1st runner-up, Rs. 15,000 for 2nd runner-up, Rs. 5,000 for Top Fragger and Rs. 5,000 for Most Assisted Kills. The company, in continuation with the #ItsHerGame campaign launched on International Women’s Day, has also announced a special prize for women gamers taking part in the tournament. The #GamerGoddesses crown will be given to the top-ranked all-women team with a winning prize of Rs. 20,000. Additionally, 5 lucky viewers will get a chance to win vouchers of Rs.1,000 each for their unconditional support.

Microgravity successfully organized three online gaming tournaments across PC, Mobile and Play Station which gained significant traction amongst digital gamers. In May 2021, MGL FIFA 2021 was tournament was held which drew significant engagement from FIFA wizards with 3,000 registrations and 4 million impressions from across the country.MGL Free Fire was held during the month of August and September 2020 with over 2.2 million impressions and over 20 thousand participants. Similarly, MGL Call of Duty: Mobile was organized in December 2020 and reported over 8 lakh impressions.

Four Teams Advance to CS:GO Female Tournament at IESF WE Championships

The International Esports Federation (IESF) concluded a groundbreaking competition for the Female Feature Division CS:GO qualifiers, which saw Indonesia, Poland, Namibia, and Argentina move forward to secure their spot at the World Esports Championships Finals in Bali, Indonesia. The qualifiers were hosted online by IESF, and the finals tournament in Bali will feature a $50,000 total prize pool. Poland and Argentina came out on top of their respective region’s qualifiers.

IESF President Vlad Marinescu said: “IESF is privileged to be able to host its first-ever Female Feature Division CS:GO tournament, a significant step forward for the world of Esports. This event is promoting inclusivity and providing female gamers equal opportunities to succeed on Esports’ biggest stage. IESF is committed to advancing and supporting the role of women in Esports through initiatives like this and our current partnerships with Women in Games and GIRLGAMER Esports Festival. “

IESF Marketing Manager Ana Karakolevska added: “Congratulations to the four female teams for giving us one of the most exciting qualifiers yet, and securing their spot at the first-ever CS:GO World Esports Tournament. IESF is proud to be making advancements in shaping the future of gaming for the entire World Esports Family. We can’t wait to see these skilled teams compete in Bali.”

World-leading Esports club Natus Vincere (NAVI) represented Poland in the qualifiers and will bring some of the world’s best Esports players to Bali to compete for the ultimate prize. The 14th WE Championships will take place from December 1 to 12 with Indonesia, Poland, Namibia, or Argentina looking to be crowned the first female CS:GO tournament winners.

MSSA invited to send U20 esports team to Malawi

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) is held in high esteem and often receives invites to participate in events right around the world.

As such the Global Esports Federation (GEF) has informed MSSA of the inaugural Southern Africa Region Esports Championships 2022 (SAREC 2022) billed for Lilongwe, Malawi in December.

SAREC 2022 is a joint project of the GEF’s Africa Esports Development Federation (AEDF) and the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 and it will be a demonstration showpiece alongside of the AUSC Region 5 Youth Games which will be held in the same city on December 3rd and 4th , 2022.

This and many more initiatives are billed to unfold across Africa as the AEDF swings into action in a holistic development strategy for our continent through the values of the GEF – equality, diversity, fair play, inclusion and innovation.

The Game Titles to be played are eFootball and Street Fighter V.

The event will also see a SAREC Forum take place in which a convergence of esports, sports, tech and business stakeholder shall discuss the growth potentials of Esports in the region.

There is no doubt that this is a historic event that will further promote esports throughout Africa.
