RUAIRI BOYLE JOINS INSIDE THE POCKET AS CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER

Leading free-to-play aggregator secures key CCO talent in the shape of Playtech’s former Commercial Director
Inside The Pocket (ITP), the leading free-to-play (F2P) aggregation platform, has appointed Ruairi Boyle to the new role of Chief Commercial Officer, as it bids to extend its presence and influence across the industry.
Boyle arrives at Inside The Pocket after a successful stint at Playtech, where he proved himself in a similar senior commercial capacity, having taken the reins as Commercial Director for the igaming powerhouse over the previous seven years. There, he diligently built the brand’s reputation in global gaming markets, with a keen eye for strategy and new sales across digital and land-based international markets.
The Irishman is also an industry veteran across an array of decision-making roles – notably at brands such as Ladbrokes, Genting and BoyleSports – where his flair for strategy, commercial negotiations and product planning for sportsbooks afforded him prescient player-focussed acumen around the merits of sports betting engagement.
Now Boyle brings those skills to bear at the sports betting sector’s pre-eminent free-to-play aggregation platform. He will be responsible for managing ITP’s existing partners – which include the multi-award-winning likes of Low6, Incentive Games, Thunderbite, PunditLeague and BOA Gaming – and securing the expansion of Inside The Pocket’s dedicated F2P skill set into international territories.
Inside The Pocket is committed to being a flexible customer acquisition and retention tool, driving engagement through a range of games whose formats responsibly acquire and retain customers at low cost but also remain fully compliant as regulation continues to roll out across regions from the U.S. to Asia, Africa and LatAm. Its agnostic platform offers a strategic solution which works territory-by-territory, educating uninitiated audiences with fully-integrated games.
Ruairi Boyle, Chief Commercial Officer at ITP, said: “I’ve always based my business relationships on the ability to add value. Working with Hussain at ITP, I’ve already been hugely impressed by the technical excellence of the games assembled, while we are currently benefiting from massive momentum across the industry from data provider, to sportsbooks, to platform, and to operators. ICE London provided early consolidation of that fact. I’m absolutely thrilled with our pipeline, alongside our combined contacts in the sports and sports betting space. ITP are trusted, respected and on a tear. I can’t back a stronger story than that.”
Hussain Naqi, founder and CEO of Inside The Pocket, added: “We were naturally delighted Ruairi joined the ITP team ahead of ICE London and I’m pleased to say we’ve hit the ground running ever since. His experience and Rolodex of contacts in sales and business development are second to none. I have no doubt he’ll be a true asset to both ITP and all our progressive book of clients, as we bid to broaden our global footprint. Consequently, it’s a timely moment for new partners to discover how a single integration with ITP can open up the entire free-to-play marketplace.”

Sporting Index becomes first bookmaker to tackle rugby union Player Performance market

For the first time in the history of betting on rugby union Sporting Index are offering a Player Performance market ahead of the 2023 Six Nations championship.
Player Performance points will be awarded and subtracted across a number of criteria, from receiving 10 points for a try assist to minus 10 points for a red card. Four Player Performance points will be racked up for any individual points scored in the game, so a try, for example, will see the player dotting down under the sticks rewarded with 20 points (4×5).
Punters will have to decide whether to buy or sell a player’s predicted make-up depending on if they think that player will exceed or fall short of the firm’s expectations.
In England’s opener against Scotland, Owen Farrell’s Player Performance spread, for example is priced at 58-61. So, punters thinking he’ll have a stormer and rack up points should buy, while those who think he’ll struggle to tick the Player Performance boxes can sell.
Sporting Index’s other spreads on the Six Nations predict there will be a total of 686 points scored in the tournament, including 80 tries, while the firm expect there to be 16 players sent to the sin bin.
Neville Burdock, Head of Sportsbook at Sporting Index, said: “For a long time punters have enjoyed betting on player performance markets in football, so we’re excited to take the next step and make that available on rugby union, particularly with the Six Nations kicking off this weekend.
“To be the first bookmaker out with this is a credit to our traders who work tirelessly to crunch the numbers, and we look forward to seeing the uptake from punters over the course of what is a massive 2023 for rugby union.
“With player performance points awarded for the likes of try assists, metres run, line breaks, tackles and points scored, and then subtracted for missed tackles, sin bins and red cards, punters will need to decide whether we’ve gone too high or low on each player’s spread.”
Sporting Index:
Player Performance points system:
10 points per try assist
5 points per line break
4 points per point scored
1 point per 10 metres run (rounded down to nearest 10)

ESG Gaming to debut tech inequality documentary film at ICE Esports Arena

The Esports Arena at ICE London will celebrate a first on Wednesday 8th February when it hosts the premiere of Ironclad; a short documentary style film produced by ESG Gaming.
Shot on location in Dundee, Salford and across London the film explores the issue and impact of digital and tech inequality on the space, seen through the lived experience of players and the broader esports community. Ironclad features interviews with the likes of KingJae, the David Beckham co-owned Guild Esports, Dundee & Angus College, EXCEL Esports, and Esports Youth Club amongst others.
Ironclad producer Sam Cooke, who co-founded Esports Insider and the WFH League, stated: “Digital and tech inequality in esports represent serious issues which actually discriminate against huge swathes of the population and limit accessibility at an entry level.
“The purpose of Ironclad is to provide an opportunity for some of those in the space to share their stories and their lived experience in order to drive awareness of these key issues and to, hopefully, serve as a catalyst for change. The general consensus amongst those interviewed was that more can be done, and that accessible bricks and mortar gaming facilities are one part of this puzzle.”
Lee Willows, founder of ESG Gaming added: “Raising awareness around digital and tech inequality, player protection and inclusivity are central themes for ESG Gaming. I am incredibly grateful to Invest in Film, Lionscreed and Esports Insider who have bought the community together to contribute their unique insight, experience and knowledge to our short, documentary style film. Ironclad is the first of several short films from ESG, which will seek to raise awareness and seek to improve access and inclusivity.
“I would also like to thank the team at Clarion Gaming for firstly having the vision to establish the Esports Arena in the first place but also for supporting what we are trying to achieve at ESG Gaming and for providing us with a superb event at which to launch Ironclad.”
A subsequent screening of Ironclad is scheduled to take place at ESI Next Gen, an event focused on uniting leaders across education, video games and esports, at the University of Warwick across 22nd-23rd March.
Incorporated in August 2021, ESG Gaming is a regulated, not-for-profit Community Interest Company. The ESG mission is to ensure that consumers worldwide possess the skills, knowledge, resilience and tools to engage with digital entertainment in a safe, responsible, positive and inclusive manner. ESG Gaming develops, delivers, and evaluates educational products and commissions research which have a focus on digital and tech inequality, player protection and inclusivity within gaming and esports.
