3.5million tickets processed with turnover up 400 per cent

 

London, 10th July 2018 – Playtech BGT Sports (PBS), the leading provider of omni-channel sports betting solutions, has announced a record-breaking World Cup as its SSBTs continue to drive increased revenues in the retail space.

Enjoying a greater share of overall in-shop turnover than ever before, the terminals have processed more than 3.5million tickets so far – an increase of over 400 per cent on the statistics for the World Cup in Brazil four years ago.

PBS has introduced a wide range of new products and innovative features in recent months, including new markets, an enhanced cash-out tool, goal scorer options and a streamlined in-play user experience,

In-play, especially football, is driving exceptional levels of growth, with in-play turnover now accounting for 34 per cent of terminal World Cup business. This is compared to 12 per cent at the previous World Cup.

The Round of 16 game between Croatia v Denmark has to date generated the most in-play turnover of any match, emphasising it is just not big matches but lower profile games on TV at the right time of day that is a catalyst for growth.

John Pettit, Managing Director for UK, Ireland, Asia, and Australia at Playtech BGT Sports believes the figures should come as no surprise.

He said:We are delighted with the numbers to date and are pleased to have helped generate so much extra revenue for our betting shop partners in the UK and Ireland.

We have undoubtedly benefited from the live World Cup TV pictures available in every shop, which have encouraged in-play betting.

“This World Cup has definitely shattered the old cliché that customers are only interested in betting on England, or the so called ‘big matches’.

“Croatia versus Denmark smashed records and the message to operators is crystal clear: if you combine pictures with data at the right time the revenues will flow.

“It’s a simple message and one we’re excited to be helping deliver as we continue to innovate in this space.”

The record performance has been helped by the successful recent roll out of PBS’ Match Acca product, which allows players to create their own bets by combining selections within popular match markets.

The terminals provide access to hundreds of in-play matches that are popular with players right through to the end of the shop day.

While, traditional Over the Counter business is typically generated throughout the afternoon during horse racing, the terminal continues to generate turnover, especially in play, right into the evening.

Betway becomes official global betting partner of the Mzansi Super League T20

Betway has agreed a three-year-deal to become the official betting partner of the Mzansi Super League T20 – further adding to its cricket sponsorship portfolio.

The tournament, which takes place in Johannesburg, Tshwane, Durban, Nelson Mandela Bay, Cape Town and Paarl, is broadcast live in the UK and the first fixtures have already provided some great action.

Former South African international AB de Villiers impressed the locals as he hit fifty in vain as Tshwane Spartans were beaten by Cape Town Blitz, while Nelson Mandela Bay Giants beat the Jozi Stars.

Betway’s latest seven-figure-deal comes just months after it was confirmed as the official betting partner of both the men’s and women’s Cricket West Indies (CWI) sides.

Betway’s Anthony Werkman, said: “We are really pleased to be on board at the start of this new look T20 tournament.

“Being involved as a global partner shows the ambition Betway has to become a recognised worldwide supporter of elite professional sport, and the names appearing in this tournament certainly fit that bill.

Project has received what it is describing as a ‘substantial order’ from Praesepe, part of the Gauselmann group of companies, for its specialist poker themed games comprising Red Hot Poker, Jacks or Better and the Cat C lite, Hi Lo Poker.
